BIOGRAPHY

ON THE BRIDGE Cello Ensemble was born in 2019 inside Stefano Cerrato’s teaching class at Dedalo Music School in Novara. Its members are young career musicians that come from different musical backgrounds, all with a lot of experience in chamber music. The name of the ensemble ironically refers to the innumerable times the teacher asked his students to play at the bridge thus getting a more projected sound (in this case extremely projected, playing “on” the bridge).

The ensemble performed for prestigious festivals and associations, such as International Music Festival in Portogruaro (Venice), Carlo Alfredo Piatti Festival in Bergamo, Società dei Concerti / AMUR in Parma, Musica in Scena Season at Teatro Faraggiana in Novara, Como Contemporary Festival, Rubino Association in Crema, Classicada Mercato Festival in Bologna and Sibelius Festival in Ligury. In 2020 the first album of the ensemble, Vocal Chords, has been released: it is about a path that links old to modern and contemporary music, through famous or less known original pieces, philological transcriptions and world premieres. In 2021 the ensemble recorded its second album for Sconfinarte, with the world premiere recording of Trio! for 12 cellos by Umberto Pedraglio. In collaboration with Cello Museum Association and Reddress Rercording Studio, On the Bridge - cello ensemble recorded the famous Agnus Dei from Polish Requiem by Krzysztof Penderecki on the anniversary of the composer's death. The ensemble collaborates with Nomus Association in Milan to create a collection of music sheets for cello ensemble.
