“Colour directly influences the soul. Color is the keyboard, the eyes are the hammers, the soul is the piano with many strings. The artist is the hand that plays, touching one key or another purposively, to cause vibrations in the soul.”
The idea for this project was born after a reflection, we wondered: how can we enhance the communicative power of music? Is it possible to turn music into a more concrete art form? Music is intangible. Therefore, listening to music appears as a more demanding art form than others.
In the human nature the visual aspect is crucial for communication: for example, how you move your body while speaking, the clothes you wear, everything conveys a message. Our goal is to take advantage of this effective communication tool and to use it to enhance the communicative power of music.
We will combine music and visual arts: we will offer to the audience the opportunity to see how a painting can be born and inspired by music, and how it can reflect the atmosphere suggested by a musical piece. Moreover, we will invite our audience to actively participate in our concert/workshop, and to create their own artwork.
In art history, music has always been a source of inspiration: we could mention Concert (the musicians) by Caravaggio, Man with a guitar by Georges Braque, The three musicians by Pablo Picasso and The music lesson by Johannes Vermeer. With our music, we would like to be an inspiration for our audience and stimulate their creativity in the same way.
